Parung, Bogor — Pahlawan yang memperjuangkan pendidikan nasional yaitu Ki Hadjar Dewantara lahir di Yogyakarta pada Tanggal 2 Mei 1889 dengan nama asli Raden Mas Soewardi Soeryaningrat berasal dari keraton Yogyakarta. Tanggal tersebut yang menjadi latar belakang ditetapkannya hari pendidikan nasional
Hari Pendidikan Nasional tahun 2024 mengusung tema “Bergerak Bersama, Lanjutkan Merdeka Belajar”. Tema tersebut mengajak seluruh elemen bangsa, dari pendidik, peserta didik, orangtua serta masyarakat luas, agar saling membantu untuk mewujudkan transformasi pendidikan di Indonesia.
Merdeka belajar adalah sebuah gerakan yang menitikberatkan pada kemandirian belajar peserta didik. Pendekatan tersebut untuk mendorong peserta didik agar aktif, kreatif dan kritis dalam proses belajar mengajar. Hal tersebut sejalan dengan cita-cita Ki Hadjar Dewantara untuk menciptakan generasi bangsa yang mandiri, cerdas, dan berkarakter mulia.
Dengan adanya kemudahan dalam menempuh jenjang pendidikan saat ini diharapkan bagi generasi muda, siswa dan pelajar dapat memanfaatkannya untuk menimba ilmu yang setinggi-tingginya. Seperti kutipan dalam kalimat kiasan “Tuntutlah Ilmu dari Buaian hingga ke Liang Lahat” atau “Tuntutlah Ilmu hingga ke Negeri Cina” Menuntut ilmu itu tidak mengenal adanya batasan umur dan usia, serta tempat. Ilmu merupakan jendela dunia, tingkatkan budaya membaca buku yang bermanfaat. Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi maka Anda akan bisa menguasai dunia dalam genggaman Anda.
Harapannya Pendidikan tidak hanya mengajarkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan, tetapi membentuk karakter yang baik, seperti sikap disiplin, bertanggung jawab, jujur, dan lain sebagainya. Hal ini sangat penting karena karakter yang baik akan membantu siswa dalam menghadapi tantangan di kehidupan, baik di masa sekolah maupun di masa depan.
